Mr. Ellrod has more than 45 years experience as a research meteorologist and weather forecaster, mostly with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) and National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). Since 2007, he has been a consulting meteorologist with EWxC, LLC. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), Association of Certified Meteorologists (ACM), National Weather Association (NWA), and American Geophysical Union.

Expertise and experience in:

• Satellite meteorology (multi-spectral image interpretation)
• Aviation meteorology (remote sensing of hazards such as fog, turbulence, volcanic ash and aircraft icing, aviation forecasts)
• Weather analysis and forecasting
• Forensic meteorology (investigations of turbulence encounters, aircraft accidents, slip-and-fall accidents, fog-related roadway pileups, etc)
• Training through the COMET program and WMO courses
